Official Apex Reviews Rating:  5 Stars

Hired to serve as a bodyguard for a group of exotic dancers, embattled St. Louis Detective John Dark soon realizes – much to his chagrin – that there’s no such thing as an easy paycheck. When the dancers he’s sworn to protect are suddenly kidnapped and sent back in time to ancient Rome, Dark has no choice but to follow suit in an effort to bring them back safe. Of course, having to go up against the likes of gladiators, emperors, voodoo priestesses, and powerful deities certainly makes his task a bit more difficult than he’d suspect…

With Blood For The Masses, author B.L. Morgan proves that he’s a literary force to be reckoned with. Featuring one of the most genuinely compelling anti-heroes ever to grace the pages of a book, Morgan’s latest standout offering is an instant page-turning classic. Short on pretense and long on imagination, Blood For The Masses is a solidly crafted fantasy/suspense/sci-fi thriller featuring a highly intriguing cast of well-developed characters – anchored by none other than the inimitable Dark himself. Despite finding himself immersed in the depths of a mystical ancient culture, Dark nonetheless proves to be quite the formidable opponent as he fights for a cause greater to him than any other – his own. With a trademark knack for creating truly riveting stories that never fail to entertain, Morgan scores again with Blood For The Masses, a thoroughly entertaining tale guaranteed to leave readers craving the next installment in what’s quickly become a can’t-miss series. Highly recommended.

Why Mosley can beat Pacquiao!

Posted in Boxing, Sports, Boxing with tags , , on May 5, 2011 by johndark1985

Hey Guys and Gals:

This morning I ordered the Pac-Man vs Sugar Shane pay per view.

The lady I talked to while ordering asked me who I thought was going to win and when I gave my answer she informed me she was from the Philippines and since Manny does so many good things for his people she always pulls for him.

That got me to thinking that I had to do a quick rundown as to why Shane Mosley does have a good chance of taking down the Mighty Pac-Man.

Manny Pacquiao may be a great humanitarian but that won’t help him take a shot to the lips from a good puncher.

First of all, I told the Dish Network lady that I figured Manny would win but that I wanted Shane to win. I still do think that Manny will pull it off but Shane is a very live underdog.

Here are the reasons why:

#1. Manny Pacquiao is spreading himself too thin.

At the time of this writing Manny Pacquiao is a Congressman in his country, he records popular rock music, he stars in movies and he has his own TV series. Oh, by the way, Manny Pacquiao is also a prizefighter.

It has become almost an afterthought that Pac-Man is a world championship level Boxer with everything else he does. There is no way he can be completely concentrated on the task of defending his position as Boxing’s #1 Pound for Pound Fighter.

Because of this, he is setting himself up for a disaster.

That disaster could come in the form of Sugar Shane Mosley.

#2. Everybody (except for the promoters trying to sell tickets) are picking Pacquiao to beat Shane Mosley easily. If Pac-Man comes in over confident and under-trained (and really he could) then Shane Mosley will climb all over him. Shane Mosley knows this is his last chance at the summit of his sport. At the very least he’s going to go down fighting. You have to expect, Shane Mosley is going to be throwing everything he possibly has left at Pac-Man.

Desperate men do desperate deeds. Sometimes, what they can do is unbelievable!

#3. The technical reasons: Mosley is bigger, hits harder and still has excellent hand-speed. People are discounting Shane because he looked bad against Mayweather and Mora. Mayweather is a defensive genius. After he had his teeth rattled he put on a defensive clinic against Mosley like we haven’t seen in a very long time.

Sergio Mora is a big defensive fighter who will hold and go defensive for long periods of time. The way Mora fought made Shane look horrible.

Almost no fighter looks good against either of these guys so of course Shane Mosley looked bad.

Mosley has longer arms and if he forces Pacquiao to lunge in (which Pac-Man does a lot anyway) he can catch and hurt him. This is a very dangerous fight for Pacquiao. If Shane hurts him, he has the speed to finish the job. Clottey didn’t have that kind of speed. Margarito didn’t have that kind of speed, but Shane Mosley does.

The only fighters that Shane Mosley has ever had dominate him were defensive fighters. Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright and Floyd Mayweather were defensive fighters.

Manny Pacquiao is an offensive fighter. He does exactly what Shane Mosley wants his opponents to do: Fght him! This is the kind of fight that Mosley loves.

In closing I got to say don’t count Sugar Shane Mosley out. He’s a hungry fighter who’s experienced enough to make his hunger count. At some time in the Pacquiao/Mosley fight Pac-Man will eat some big shots. Manny will come back fighting because that’s the kind of fighter he is. Manny Pacquiao is a warrior. When the gladiator in Manny shows up is when the Lion in Shane can be let loose.

That’s when this contest gets very interesting!!!

See-Ya!

Mayweather vs Mosley from a Mosley Fan’s Perspective

Posted in Boxing, Sports, Boxing with tags , on May 2, 2010 by johndark1985

Last night I got the pay per view and had some friends over for the fights. We all had high hopes that Mosley would triumph and bring back honor and dignity to Boxing: The Manly Art of Self-Defense.

As we watched everybody in the room jumped to their feet and whooped it up when Mosley badly hurt Mayweather in the second round not once but twice. It looked like Mosley had Mayweather’s number. He looked as fast as Mayweather and was clearly as strong.

But a funny thing happened after the second round. Mayweather didn’t buckle and Mosley appeared disorganized and terribly confused when he attempted to follow up on what he’d done. After the second round Mosley stopped doing what put him in the position to deliver the punches that hurt Mayweather. He stopped being first with his jab. He stopped (except on a very few occasions) landing punches to Mayweather’s body on his left side.

In short Mosley stopped punching except when he was under attack.

This was extremely confusing to everyone at my house. It was almost like Mosley had one of those Fear of Success episodes that we hear about but can’t quite explain.

Anyway, he lost a clear decision and all of us don’t have any complaints with it.

So I have to ask myself what happened here? We have in Mosley a proven top level fighter who has shown himself to be a gutsy warrior over and over again. So why did he in essence freeze in the biggest fight of his career?

I don’t have any real answers but I can give some good guesses.

He appeared tired and tense right after the second round. That could have been because maybe he over-trained and when the adrenalin kicked in from him being in the position to possibly finish Mayweather it quickly burned him out. This is what it appeared to be from me.

There is also one other possibility: That Mayweather is far better than somebody like myself would like to admit. With a guy with Mayweather’s personality it is easy to dislike the guy. He’s arrogant, throws insults around to any and everybody like this is the only way he knows how to communicate and him and his father are unapologetically racists. I know it’s politically incorrect to state that but it is the truth.

It’s hard to cheer for someone like that and hard to congratulate them for their accomplishments.

As a contrast people tend to like Mosley for exactly the same reason why they don’t like Mayweather: Shane Mosley presents himself with honor and dignity. He never knowingly shines a bad light on the sport that has made him wealthy.

Since I do think that the reason why Mayweather won and Mosley lost is a combination of the two reasons listed above I will give credit where credit is due.

Floyd Mayweather should be congratulated for being one of the Greatest Fighters of All Time. That’s just how it is. He’s not the best ambassador the sport of Boxing ever had but that actually has never been his job.

He does his job and he does it extremely well.

Sincerely
